Our sisters

Our sisters in other countries are dealing with difficult situations and few resources. We are aware of the alarming increase in human rights violations recently in El Salvador and on-going in Colombia. Sri Lanka again experiences more civil violence and conflict where the
death toll is high. Women are suffering violent rapes in Darfur. Sometimes our sisters in other countries, on small islands, indigenous people on many Continents, post war-torn countries in Eastern Europe feel they are forgotten because they aren't the focus of international attention.

A Russian peasant after the Great War is reported to have
responded to the question "How did you manage? How did
you survive the war, the isolation, the starvation, the
winter? " His reply: "We held each other up." Let's
hold each other up. We can support each other; let's find a
route to peace and justice.

One in Three asks, Are we ignoring or holding up our global sister’s?

I direct a program for postsecondary
students challenged with intellectual
and learning disablities. Part of the body
of knowledge is a course on human
sexuality. Most of the students have never
had the opportunity to take such a class,
knew very little about self protection,
and feel empowered by taking the class.
Abuse among the disabled is ourtageously
high. It is far more than one in three.
I believe the data is 95%. My best to this
wonderful organization for bringing this
awareness forward.
